"For the Composer's Choice event I wanted to do something that would represent the events of the Women's Gymnastics All-Around event, to celebrate how well Simone Biles and the American team did in Rio this year. I made a theme and variation for clarinet that represents the four events: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise (in that order), and tries to embody a bit of the way Biles performed in the final at Rio."
